TAMU Google Services

Who is impacted?Anyone using TAMU Google Services
How are they impacted?Potential future costs for data storage
What do they need to do?Nothing needs to be done right now.
However, AgriLife IT does recommend moving the data you have saved in your Google Drive to your OneDrive

Several have asked recently what the future is related to Google Services offered through TAMU. As of September 16, 2021, TAMU states that Google Services are still available for use. AgriLife is not restricting any use of Google Services, other than Google email. TAMU also states that they are not going to restrict storage capacity in Google Drive. All AgriLife employees are required to use AgriLife Exchange email services to guarantee data security standards and reduce support overhead.

However, TAMU has recently advised that Google will be changing Google drive storage from a free/unlimited storage offering to a rate structured model. TAMU has no further information currently. TAMU is however promoting that employees strongly begin consideration and adoption of services offered in Microsoft Office 365.

AgriLife also highly recommends the utilization of Office 365 and Microsoft OneDrive where appropriate for your data storage needs. OneDrive provides each user with 5TB of space.

If you have more than 5TB of data, please contact our support staff and your request will be routed to one of our engineers to find the best solution for your needs.

Please refer to the following AgriLife IT resources to learn more about how to use OneDrive:
