Duo “Remember Me” Option Change

What is changing?

Beginning July 19, 2021, our Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) system ‘Remember Me’ duration will be changed from 30 days to 5 days.

This change was mandated by the TAMUS System Chief Information Security Officer (SCISO), in response to a newly discovered security threat targeting MFA systems, like DUO. You can read more about the updated TAMU System Security Control standard here.

What does this mean for you?

If you use the ‘Remember Me’ checkbox when logging into any DUO-protected account, it will now last 5 days instead of 30. This simply means sending another push notification once per week instead of once a month.
