Remote Office Resources

The purpose of this guide is to provide information to support remote office activities for AgriLife employees working from home or other alternative locations.

As many of AgriLife’s IT services are cloud based, the majority of business applications and Microsoft Office software are available online for use on any device with internet access.

Email

You can check your email on any device (home computer, tablet, smart phone,) with internet access by

  1. clicking here
  2. logging in with your AgNet credentials
    • You must use firstname.lastname@AGNET.TAMU.EDU for your username

Microsoft Teams

Teams can be accessed

  1. through the Teams app on your work laptop
  2. through a web browser on any device with internet access by clicking here

Log in with your AgNet credentials. You must use firstname.lastname@AGNET.TAMU.EDU for your username

AIT highly recommends utilizing Microsoft Teams while working remotely. Teams optimizes communication and collaboration within your department.

Teams can also be used to web conference with AgriLife employees as well as non-AgriLife employees. Simply add a non-AgriLife employee’s email address to your meeting invite or send them a link to your meeting.

Office 365

If you do not have a laptop issued to you from work, you can still access all of the Office 365 applications such as:

  • Outlook
  • Calendar
  • OneDrive
  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint

Follow these 2 steps to access Office 365 apps in your browser:

  1. Click here
  2. Log in with your AgNet credentials
    • You must use firstname.lastname@AGNET.TAMU.EDU for your username

If you would like to install the Microsoft Office 365 suite on your personal computer, you can click the INSTALL OFFICE button located in the top right are of your screen, once logged in.

Office can be installed on PCs and Macs.

Access your files in Syncplicity

If you store your files in Syncplicity, click here to log in and access your files.

Office Phone

You can forward your office phone to your cell phone if your phone system provides this functionality.

Update your Contact Info

Update your contact info that is seen by HR using the step below:

  1. Click here
  2. Click on Open Workday
  3. Click on Select Personal Information
  4. Click on Change
  5. Click on Update my Personal Address/Phone Information
  6. Click SAVE

VPN Resources

VPN for Bryan/College Station

The TAMU VPN is for all employees who are physically located in College Station, Texas.
If you are housed at a Research Center, please see the VPN information and setup directions here.

How to use TAMU VPN (Video)

Map your unit’s W: Drive

This information only applies to employees located in College Station.
If you have not already downloaded and installed the TAMU VPN, do that first. You must be signed in and connected to agnet.tamu.edu to proceed. Click on your device above for download and installation instructions.

  1. Connect the TAMU VPN using your TAMU Net ID and password
  2. Open Windows Filex Explorer
  3. In the address field below the menu bar, type in \\165.91.132.187, then hit Enter on your keyboard
  4. This will display a list of departmental folders
  5. Right-Click on your departmental folder and select Map Network Drive
  6. Select a Drive Letter then click Finish

Map your unit’s W: Drive for macOS

If you have not already downloaded and installed the TAMU VPN, do that first. You must be signed in and connected to agnet.tamu.edu to proceed. Click on your device above for download and installation instructions.

  1. Go to the Finder menu and select Go>Connect to Server
    • you can also use Command +K
  2. In the top field type in smb://165.91.132.187/ then click Connect
    • you can also click the + to add it to Favorite Servers
  3. select Registered User and enter your AgriLife credentials and click Connect
  4. Control+Click on your department folder and select Make Alias
    • this will create a shortcut to the drive on your desktop
  5. Double-click the new shortcut/alias icon to access your departmental W: and S: drives
  6. Double-click Protect Directory
    • Group is your W: drive
    • Share is your S: drive
