Add Access to a Folder in a Private Channel

  1. Go to the private channel in Teams

    Click on the Files tab

  2. Click Open in SharePoint

This option will be visible in the menu bar once the folders are visible.
This step will launch your web browser and may or may not prompt for your AgriLife Office 365 login.
If prompted, enter your AgriLife login
    Username- yourfirstname.yourlastname@agNET.tamu.edu
    Password- your AgNet password

  3. Hover over the folder you want to grant access to

    Click on the Share Icon

  4. Enter the person’s name or email address you want to grant access

If they are within AgriLife, you can provide their name
If they are NOT within AgriLife, you will need to provide their email address

*Anyone added with an @tamu.edu address will trigger an alert about them being “outside of your organization.” This is just a heads-up- it does not affect their ability to view/edit the folder

  5. Determine the person’s access abilities

This step will let you add edit or view only access.

  6. Click Send

*If you need to add multiple people, group them based on access, and repeat steps 4 and 5.
For example, if you need to give multiple people view only access, add them at the same time, then click Send. Then go back and repeat steps 4 and 5 for people who need edit access, then click Send.
